What We Do
The Ammerman Experience is a communications skills development firm that does one thing and one thing only: we show people how to effectively and confidently reach and influence others through the spoken word. We ask them to change the way they think about communicating, and show them how to eliminate comfortable, but outdated and self-defeating, communication patterns. For nearly 30 years we've trained thousands of people to face the media, manage a crisis, speak at public meetings and deliver memorable, effective analyst, sales and other business presentations.

Here's what makes us unique:
 
°   We are research oriented. We believe experience is a good teacher, but we think experience plus research is the best teacher. So we rely not just on our experience, but also on extensive primary and secondary research as the basis for what and how we teach.
     
°   We teach skills. Once learned, skills work all the time . . . for everyone . . . under any circumstance. Because communicating is not a spectator sport, our clients learn by doing. We offer small-group, interactive seminars and workshops that enable each participant to participate. Video is a vital teaching tool for us.
     
°   Our seminars are rigorous, cost-effective and user-friendly. Because "one size" rarely "fits all," we frequently customize our seminars to meet our clients' specific needs. Much of our training is conducted in our state-of-the-art television studio and teaching facility in suburban Houston. However, our seminars travel very well. All of our seminars and workshops respect the time constraints placed on busy professionals.

Much business training today delivers little or zero return on investment: Seminars that are short on substance. Sessions with long and frequent breaks. Notebooks or workbooks that end up (usually unread) on a shelf in your office. We offer you something different . . . and better.

We're available 24/7, and there is no additional charge for this valuable service.
     
°   When measuring success in communicating, some people confuse production objectives with communications objectives. We don't. For example, participating in a media interview or delivering a presentation is a production objective. It may or may not change attitudes or move people to action. When it doesn't, you have achieved a production objective. When it does, you have also achieved a communications objective. We show people how to achieve their communications objectives.
     
°   As a general rule, communications training firms - large and small alike - have a high mortality rate. For some of them - notably, PR firms - training is a sideline. Achieving an objective rarely occurs by accident. It results from careful planning, followed by accurate execution. And when a company uses an outside consultant to help it achieve an objective, the planning process takes on added importance.

Though we have an impressive portfolio of seminars, much of our training is customized. We may modify an existing seminar or create an entirely new one to accommodate different objectives, different people, different corporate cultures or sensitivities, different logistics.

The first step in our planning process is to obtain a clear understanding of what you want to accomplish. Only then can we put together a proposal for your consideration. Only then can client and consultant be assured of a successful result. This front-end investment of time returns solid dividends.

But even before executing a project, we'll ask for additional information about your company and the people we'll be training - for example, through brief pre-seminar questionnaires. We'll also do some of our own independent research, such as obtaining publicly available information about your company through the Internet or other sources.

After every seminar, we ask each participant to evaluate the session, and we'll share those evaluations with you.
